These “skinny” sticks are cut for bottles and carafes with smaller mouths. Adding bamboo charcoal to tap water removes impurities and improves taste. It is a sustainable solution for consumers who want to avoid plastic bottles, cartridges, and filters, but want better tasting tap water. Add bamboo charcoal to a carafe or decanter at home, or a couple of pieces in a reusable bottle on the go. Bamboo charcoal pieces change water taste within minutes and can be used for weeks before depositing them in compost or garden.

This bamboo charcoal is sourced from craftsmen in the Japanese countryside. Bamboo is carbonized at high heat (800 degrees Celsius), creating a large, porous surface area. Tests show that these pores absorb ammonia, lead, mercury, cadmium, and copper from water - including chloramine, chlorine and chlorides, which can make tap water taste bad.

This charcoal is made by craftsmen using their ancestors' traditional methods. All bamboo is cut by hand. This is a zero waste product and uses bamboo that has been culled from forests to maintain ecosystem health.

Rinse, boil for five minutes, allow to dry – preferably in the sun. (one time only)

This product comes packaged in a cardboard box with a paper label and wrapping. All packing materials are 100% recyclable and biodegradable.
